Panorama of the XIIth International Encounter

The preparatory document, in French or Spanish, will be received this week by all those registered, and we will try to send it to those who register at the last moment.

Those who have chosen to participate in the Conversation of the Cereda will also receive the document allowing them to contribute to this Conversation. We have reason to believe it will be a real conversation, since everything has been done to allow you to study the texts seriously during almost a month before they are highlighted and enriched by clinical and theoretical considerations, or by the questions of each of the participants.

The special issue of Terre du CIEN has also been sent to those registered for the Encounter who wished to “speak the language of the other” by choosing the CIEN Workshop among the simultaneous sessions of July 20th.

And, of course, the participants in the Clinical Sections Workshop dispose of the traditional preparatory volume, taking its place within the set it belongs to.

As for the texts presented in the Workshop of the R13, they have been published on the site, in Spanish and French, as is the case for most of the texts for the Library Workshop, published in their original language (English, Spanish and one in French). This last Workshop has taken form, in a somewhat surprising way for those who may have noticed that the reflection on this Workshop’s theme has been mostly nourished by the Spanish Libraries and all year long their work has been giving to this theme its flesh and its spinal cord. We thank Graciela Brodsky for having demonstrated the fecundity of the study of something we were in almost total ignorance of, that is those trends which prefer to believe in gender and biology, or even in genetics rather than in the unconscious. She thus testifies to the authenticity of her enthusiasm for Jacques-Alain Miller’s Letters to an Enlightened Opinion.

The Workshop of Medicine-Clip has taken up the challenge of these Letters, thanks to the members of the ECF who have set it up while integrating those from other Schools who realized the interest of working on the intersection between medicine and psychoanalysis (reread the Act by which Jacques Lacan founded his School in 1964) in order to make evident the lunule common to these two disciplines.

The international bookshop of the Encounter will try to make available to everyone Jacques-Alain Miller’s references in these Letters, which the Library of Barcelona has examined page by page, in order to mark its particularity with respect to the bookshops which have preceded it. It will also propose, as before, the entire panoply of the publications of the Freudian Field that have been published in the world since the Encounter of Buenos Aires in July 2000. I wish to bring to the notice of readers the publications of those colleagues whose languages are probably practiced by no one except themselves, those of the Rodrigue of the Freudian Field, the group which is being consolidated in Bulgaria.

I remind those who are in charge of a publication that they must address their deposits of books or reviews to the intention of Véronique Eydoux (eydoux.veronique@wanadoo.fr) and her team at the ECF seat, joining to their deposit the ad hoc invoice. I also remind you that the delegate for each publication whose name is on this invoice will receive the money for the sales on Monday July 22nd at the ECF (1, rue Huysmans – 75006 Paris), between 13:00 and 19:00. Each one will have to carry off the unsold books unless he decides to donate them to the Libraries of the Freudian Field under construction. We thank Jean-Daniel Matet and his directory for the warm reception that the ECF has always accorded to everyone during this period of the Freudian Field, giving to many participants the occasion to discover the swarming throngs.

The final program, enriched with regard to the pre-program, will be on the site before June 30th.

The moment has come to thank the lucid and determined colleagues of different generations for the translations they have assured on this site and which have given rise to new research and the possibility to make an enlightened choice of one and only one Workshop for July 20th. Those registered for the Encounter who have not made their choice known to Patricia Johansson-Rosen by June 30th, will be assigned to a room. We have now corrected on the site the omission, for which I beg you to pardon us, of not having specified which were the active and passive languages for each workshop.

As soon as possible, it would be kind to let Patricia Johansson-Rosen know if you will be present at the closing party in the Barrio Latino on Sunday the 21st at 22:00. Its spirit of conviviality includes unlimited drinks and a very nice dance floor, added to the comfort of corners lending themselves to quiet conversations. This confirmation can be made by sending to Patricia, by the same means as your registration, the traditional participation in costs: 30 euros.

The high quality that is assured to this twelfth International Encounter by its mutation will give rise to new ideas and a revitalization of the orientation we share.

Friday the 19th, from 15:00 to 18:00, badges and documents will be given to those who have not yet received them in Brussels at the Congress of the WAP, at the seat of the ECF, 1, rue Huysmans – 75006 Paris; between 19:30 and 21:00, also on July 19th, we will meet together, in a renowned place, for the opening cocktail of the Encounter.

*

Work will begin on July 20th at the Palais des Congrès at precisely 10:00 a.m.. Reception begins at 9:00 a.m. and only those participants who do not reside in Paris or the Paris area will be able to get their badges and dossiers there until 9:30 a.m.. The location of the opening cocktail will be announced on July 3rd on the site of the Encounter.

Welcome all!
